Credibility Limited Revision

چکیده
Five types of constructions are introduced for non-prioritized belief revision, i.e., belief revision in which the input sentence is not always accepted. These constructions include generalizations of entrenchment-based and sphere-based revision. Axiomatic characterizations are provided, and close interconnections are shown to hold between the di®erent constructions. x

Credibility-Limited Improvement Operators
In this paper we introduce and study credibility-limited improvement operators. The idea is to accept the new piece of information if this information is judged credible by the agent, so in this case a revision is performed. When the new piece of information is not credible then it is not accepted (no revision is performed), but its plausibility is still improved in the epistemic state of the a...
متن کاملCredibility-Limited Revision Operators in Propositional Logic
In Belief Revision the new information is generally accepted, following the principle of primacy of update. In some case this behavior can be criticized and one could require that some new pieces of information can be rejected by the agent because, for instance, of insufficient plausibility. This has given rise to several approaches of non-prioritized Belief Revision. In particular (Hansson et ...

We consider the problem of belief revision in a multi-agent system with information stemming from different agents with different degrees of credibility. In this context an agent has to carefully choose which information is to be accepted for revision in order to avoid believing in faulty and untrustworthy information. We propose a revision process combining selective revision, deductive argume...

متن کاملA Belief-Based Approach to Measuring Message Acceptability
We propose a formal framework to support belief revision based on a cognitive model of credibility and trust. In this framework, the acceptance of information coming from a source depends on (i) the agent’s goals and beliefs about the source’s goals, (ii) the credibility, for the agent, of incoming information, and (iii) the agent’s beliefs about the context in which it operates. This makes it ...
